- TSPOOL V1.0
- ===========
-
- Introduction:
-
- Tspool is a print spooler designed for programs such as PageStream. Tspool
- creates a new device named 'tpar:' which acts as if it is 'par:' but the
- data is spooled into files on the hard disk. This means that programs such
- as PageStream which use the parallel port directly can run through a print
- spooler without having to use the Workbench printer drivers (Which are very
- slow).
-
- TSpool saves to 2 log files t:tspool.loga and t:tspool.logb, it cycles
- between them so your memory does not all vanish:-) If you have any problems
- with tspool then email me the log files.
-
- I suggest you install the fastpar software as the Amigas printer handler
- is very heavy on processor usage. If you do install it then follow the
- fastpar.readme file instead of the instructions with the fastpar package.
-
- When I get time I'll add a C= installer script to tspool and fastpar but
- for now you will have to do manually.
-
- System:
-
- You will need an Amiga with a hard drive and at least OS V36 (WB2.0).
- You will also need at least 100K of memory free while printing, if you
- are short of memory then the files will not be printed until there is enough
- memory available.
-
- Installation:
-
- 1. Copy Tspool-handler into your L: directory.
- 2. Copy spoolit into your c: directory.
- 3. Copy TPAR into your devs:dosdrivers directory.
- 4. Add 'assign spool: myharddrive:spool' to your user-startup.
- 5. Make a spool directory on myharddrive:
- 6. Install fastpar, see the fastpar.readme file.
- 7. Reboot.
-
- Pagestream Setup:
-
- 1. Load Pagestream.
- 2. Select 'Configure Printer'
- 3. Click on the 'Device:' button.
- 4. Type in tpar: into the device text box.
- 5. Save the printer settings.
-
- Print as normal, you will notice the hard drive activity if the spooler is
- working.
